Imai Daruma Naya

¥3,000
Unit price per

This stylish daruma is a collaboration between Imai Daruma and a Japanese designer, and fits right into today’s modern aesthetic.

Takasaki City in Gunma is the largest producer of daruma in Japan. It was originally used by peasants as a good luck charm, based on the monk Bodhidharma. They were made with papier-mâché, and the production techniques and design remain the same to this day.

The eyes of the daruma are painted to resemble cranes, and the moustache like turtles - both symbols of luck and longevity in Japan. Nowadays, modern designs of daruma are being produced alongside their more traditional counterparts.

Available in red, white, and black.
