Shinkyo Cutlery Set

“Shinkyo” means “new home” in Japanese. This unique cutlery set introduces a new style to the dinner table with its diversity of Japanese craftsmanship and materials. Lacquerware, bamboo crafts and metalworking all feature in the set, which includes flatware, chopsticks and cutlery rests. Wrapped in an antibacterial turmeric-dyed cotton cloth and complete with an exclusive kiribako box holder, Shinkyo is the artisanal way to serve meals.

Shinkyo’s stainless steel knives, forks and spoons feature matt, black urushi lacquered handles for an elegant secure grip. Their minimalist forms are paired with ornate cast-steel rests, each detailed with tiny sakura blooms. The chopsticks are cut from madake Japanese Timber Bamboo in a simple design that highlights the natural patterns of grain. Matching madake rests are subtly embellished with braided strips of bamboo. Both a table centerpiece and storage case, a custom-made paulownia kiribako box completes the Shinkyo dining set, its angled opening designed to showcase the cutlery and their striking materials.
