As kyoji's first collection for ma_do, "fragments" are carefully curated objects that have been given new life as art pieces. Drawing from each of the ten participating makers that make up kyoji, the objects range from offcuts, pieces that are work-in-progress, to experimental samples – allowing people to feel the manufacturing process and the texture of materials behind Japanese craft.

The first production process of Koshu Inden involves passing a screen through the deerskin and applying Urushi to create a pattern. And then each item is sewn according to its intended use to become a variety of items. The state in which only the lacquer is applied is considered a fragments of Inden Yamamoto.

How can we package the essence of Japanese craftsmanship into a form of self-expression? This is the question that gave birth to "ma_do". A play on the Japanese word for window, the geometric, stainless steel frames are designed to be a platform for showcasing special objects inside your home – transforming your wall into a portal to another world. You can choose from ten different types of art to display from "fragments", the first collection by kyoji for ma_do, but you can also display or hang other small knick-knacks dear to you.
